Acacium Group integrates workforce solutions, technology, and sector expertise to support the long-term sustainability of global healthcare systems. As part of this Group, Lyptus delivers solutions informed by extensive experience across healthcare, social care, and life sciences. This broad industry knowledge allows us to provide innovative and flexible approaches to complex challenges.

A key example of this expertise is in our sister business, Maxxima, part of Acacium Group, who partnered with a collaborative procurement and commercial service provider in the North of England. Made up of 21 public hospitals, the partnership enhanced the performance of Allied Health Professionals (AHP) and Highly Specialised Service (HSS).

Key stats

  • Comprehensive staffing solutions to 21 NHS trusts
  • 70% of bookings were filled under the NHSEI cap
  • £116,636 savings in commission charges in 2024

The Challenge

Managing healthcare staffing across multiple trusts posed significant challenges for the collaborative procurement group. Fragmented recruitment processes, involving multiple suppliers, led to inefficiencies, elevated costs, and inconsistent service delivery. The lack of a unified approach created administrative complexities and hindered the development of streamlined, effective staffing solutions.

Why Maxxima, part of Acacium Group

Maxxima was chosen for its demonstrated expertise in healthcare staffing and ability to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions. With a strong reputation for innovation and a proven history of providing cost-effective and compliant services, Maxxima emerged as the ideal partner to tackle the group’s challenges effectively.

The solution

Maxxima worked closely with representatives from each trust to understand their specific staffing challenges and co-develop a unified recruitment strategy that aligned with best practices. Initially covering 19 trusts, this approach promoted consistency and collaboration across the network.
A centralised recruitment system was introduced, leveraging Maxxima’s master vendor model to streamline the supply chain. This ensured uniform standards, adherence to budget constraints, and a single point of contact for all recruitment activities.

Regular workshops and stakeholder meetings fostered innovation and shared learning, while a shared online platform enhanced communication and operational efficiency. The success of this model attracted three additional trusts to the network, bringing the total to 21. With implementation timelines as short as two weeks, the initiative has delivered measurable improvements across the participating trusts.

Impact

Cost Savings

Maxxima’s initiatives delivered substantial financial benefits, with projected savings of £116,636 in commission charges for 2024. By achieving a 70% booking rate under a fixed price cap, Maxxima effectively aligned with NHS financial goals, showcasing robust cost management.

Enhanced Service Delivery

With a fill rate of 77%, Maxxima addressed staffing needs efficiently and consistently. The centralised recruitment system improved service quality and delivery across all 21 trusts, ensuring reliable and streamlined staffing solutions.

Improved Candidate Experience

Maxxima prioritised healthcare workers by offering flexible job opportunities and simplified shift management. This approach improved job satisfaction and retention, enabling staff to focus on providing excellent patient care. A single point of contact further reduced administrative burdens, making the recruitment process seamless and worker-friendly.

“Working in the healthcare sector, especially within areas such as Radiology, presents its unique set of challenges, particularly when it comes to filling specialised roles. Maxxima, through its master vend agreement under the framework, has been instrumental in filling immediate locum positions and assisting with longer-term recruitment needs. Since beginning our contract in December 2021, Maxxima has consistently managed to fill a high percentage of our shifts, significantly easing our staffing shortages. Their ability to provide temporary and permanent staffing solutions, coupled with valuable data insights each month, has allowed us to maintain high service levels for the communities we serve.”
